Cloud-based technology is powering our explosive growth and streaming experience, while presenting new challenges to building a reliable service on top of ephemeral commodity hardware.

We are looking for an engineering leader to head our Engineering Tools Integration team. This team is highly cross-functional acting as a liaison between the Engineering Tools team and other engineering teams at Netflix. First and foremost, we ensure that the tools provided and supported by the Engineering Tools teams work well together, and raise awareness about how to effectively use these tools.  We share the burden of migrations with our customers by scheduling in-depth consultations and migration engagements to help customer teams migrate from older, deprecated tools to newer technologies. Finally, we smooth new engineer's transition to Netflix by onboarding teams with Engineering Bootcamp, a hands-on series designed to help new employees build their first cloud application and for existing employees to become familiar with new additions to various services at Netflix.

The Tools Integration team consists of software developers and release engineers who deeply understand the tools provided by all of Engineering Tools and the way that services are built at Netflix. This combination of knowledge makes them effective at helping teams to adopt new technologies that will let those teams focus on the problems that they are trying to solve rather than on tooling. By helping the teams become self sufficient with these tools, and through close collaboration with the other Engineering Tools teams, the Tools Integration team bridges those gaps.

You collaborate with other groups to achieve your goals. The Engineering Tools team partners with nearly every development team to provide high quality development, integration and deployment solutions. You emphasize soliciting input and listening to our partners.

You enjoy leading by example. Providing context and leadership on efficiency and visibility in the development process will be key toward the success of our continuous delivery solutions.

You are flexible about languages and platforms, but provide strong expertise in JVM-based languages. The Engineering Tools team and our partner teams bring in tools that help them to be effective.  Languages evolve. Needs change. You balance the lure of shiny new languages with ensuring that they bring tangible benefits.

Minimum Requirements:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, or comparable experience
- Programming experience with JVM-based languages
- Expertise in system architecture and fluency in Java or other object-oriented programming languages
- Engineering and leadership experience in a production environment
- Project management with a lightweight touch
- Experience with fostering an environment of change
- Team building, management and strategic leadership experience
